Blå nyheder i Tone-serien

Blue news in the Tone series

The Tone series is created in stoneware and has a particularly silky soft tactile surface. I have developed monochromatic glazes that are alive in themselves and create multiple tones in the monochromatic surface. Each color has several shades in it and acts like poetic shadowscapes. I have thought of the tactility of the glaze as a counterpoint to the stoneware.

The Tone series was created in 2018. At the time, it consisted of four variants: Yellow, Apricot, Olive green and Grey. Gray was published in 2020, and here three years later, the series has received two new editions - in shades of blue.

Blue ceramic glaze is not 'just straight'

I have worked several times on a blue glaze for the Tone series. Blue is difficult as the ingredients are challenging to balance so that they are not too light, too dark, too green, too beige, too runny - I could go on.

Now I have finally arrived at two shades of blue, which I am very happy with. These are two semi-shiny blue glazes, where the other glazes in the Tone series are matte. I think that makes for a nice game, and they all go well together.

Tone ceramic plates with blue glaze

From the start, the Tone series had a number of plates in different sizes - both the cake/breakfast plate, the lunch plate and the evening plate. The large plates have been out of my range for a while, as I had challenges with the glazes. I have therefore done a lot of tests and come up with new ways to make the glazes - and then I have added the blue glazes to the plates.

The Tone cymbals are fixed in the assortment in small (18 cm.) and medium (23 cm.), and then large (26 cm.) can be ordered for production.
